| Search Terms |
 |
| The following basic rules should be considered when entering search terms: |
 |
| 1. |
When searching by company name, any set of characters matching the search term is returned. Search entries containing more than one term (i.e., groups of letters separated by a space) are searched separately. Only records containing all the individual patterns are displayed. For example, the search term "soft micro" will bring up companies such as "Microsoft Corporation" and "Microstar Software Ltd." but not "Micron Technology, Inc." |
| 2. |
Search terms resulting in more than 10 hits will be displayed in groups of ten. A prompt at the bottom of the page will allow you to scroll through to the next group. Search terms resulting in more than 100 hits will not be displayed. You will be prompted to enter a narrower search term. |
| 3. |
Searches by company name are not case sensitive. Ticker symbols should be entered in uppercase, although for most tickers the quote engine will be able to interpret lowercase entries. Special lookup instructions (see below) are case sensitive. |
| 4. |
When searching by stock ticker, you must enter the exact symbol (e.g., entering "C" will bring up information on "Chrysler", not a list of all tickers containing the letter "C"). If you do not know the ticker for a company, search using the company name. |
